Bad Lieutenant is an alternative rock band from Manchester, formed in 2007 by New Order’s Bernard Sumner and Phil Cunningham, along with singer‑guitarist Jake Evans. Named after the 1992 film Bad Lieutenant, their debut album Never Cry Another Tear was released worldwide on Triple Echo Records. The album blends New Order’s signature sound with crisp, 21st‑century guitar music, keyboards, and occasional melodica. Their debut single Sink or Swim showcased jangling, guitar-driven songs with catchy hooks and alternative rock energy.
